This signed 5 km route links Riverside Park, the Shropshire Union Canal and Welsh Row. Visit Cheshire grades it easy, with relatively flat paths and gates rather than stiles; allow its suggested 1½–2 hours before adding your own pauses. Start information points to St Anne’s car park, CW5 5ED.
Easy is a route description, not a promise of dry or accessible conditions. Follow dog-control notices, keep clear of water edges and shorten the outing if the ground or your dog’s energy makes the full loop unsuitable.
The Canal & River Trust’s Nantwich map is useful if you want waterside time without committing to the full loop. Its visitor point is Basin End, Chester Road, Acton, CW5 8LB. Select a section and a turnaround point before you set off.
Use a short lead at narrow or busy sections, bridges and the water’s edge. Share the path with other users and follow signs; a towpath is not a secure off-lead area.
For a pause indoors, the Crown expressly welcomes dogs in the bar and allows guests to take all meals there. Check serving times and a suitable table before making it your wet-weather fallback. This is a meal stop, not an indoor visitor attraction.
