Marlow suits a break that starts gently beside the Thames and leaves the longer walk until tomorrow. Base yourself at a High Street inn, spend the first afternoon around Higginson Park, then choose a riverbank stretch towards Bourne End. Both shortlisted inns accept overnight dogs, but their room and meal arrangements need more attention than a pets-welcome badge.

Pick a riverside, canal-side or historic-town visit, then check whether the route is a short local walk or a separate countryside outing.
Choose Higginson Park and the town riverfront for a short arrival walk, then extend along the Thames Path only as far as suits your dog. A longer point-to-point route will not bring you back to Marlow.
Choose the basin and a manageable section of the Aylesbury Arm, with the Heritage Walk as a separate town-streets option. The Five Bells stay is in Weston Turville, outside Aylesbury.
Choose Old Amersham’s public High Street for a gentle town visit, or select a mapped Chiltern route suited to your dog’s ability. The Potters Arms is in nearby Winchmore Hill, not Old Amersham.
