Both stays are in the town, but the George’s broad published dog welcome is more specific than the Inveraray Inn’s room-by-room arrangement.
Oban offers a harbour base with two easy-to-separate outings: Dunollie’s outdoor trails and a Ganavan Sands visit. Keep the first day modest after the journey and leave island excursions outside this simple plan. The Royal is on Argyll Square, while Oban Bay is on Corran Esplanade. Both welcome overnight dogs, but neither should be booked on an assumption that every dining room accepts them.
