Dorchester is a useful alternative to a beach-led Dorset break. The King’s Arms provides a town-centre dog dining option; The Greyhound is a village stay whose room and meal arrangements need an advance conversation.
Lyme Regis is best approached as a harbour break with selective beach time. Monmouth and Church Cliff allow dogs year-round, while the main front beach has a seasonal exclusion. Stay in town at The Mariners or choose Dower House in nearby Rousdon, across the Devon border. The choice changes the journey to the seafront as much as the style of bedroom.
Swanage makes a rewarding dog break even when the main beach is out of bounds. Durlston offers trails and a lead-controlled welcome in its castle, visitor centre and café; Monkey Beach is listed for year-round dog access. Choose between The Pines on Burlington Road and The Limes on Park Road, then arrange a dog room rather than treating every sea-view room as eligible.
