These are not a single walkable circuit. Indoor attractions have different dog rules, while the paths vary in slope, surface and access. Choose one main outing and check the exact site restrictions before travelling.
Blaenavon offers an industrial-heritage break that works with a dog when you plan around outdoor access. The Ironworks permits dogs outside its furnished cottages; Big Pit allows pets only on the outdoor site, so an underground tour is not a shared dog activity. Jenny’s Cottage and Zebra House provide self-catering bases with different size and pet restrictions. Keep one heritage visit as the main outing and leave the upland pond as an optional change of scene when weather and access suit.
Cwmbran offers two different self-catering settings: a cottage beside the canal and a hillside home at Upper Cwmbran near Blaen Bran woodland. The choice shapes the break. Pick the canal base for a gentler waterside emphasis, or the upper-town cottage if woodland walking is the priority and entrance steps are manageable. The Boating Lake provides a shorter outing on leads, while the woodland needs attention to paths, horses and uneven ground.
Pontypool suits a park-and-canal break with your own space to return to. Wern Farm Cottage and Grandads Shack are in different parts of the wider town area, not central hotel rooms. Grandads is a caravan-style stay with one pet allowed and a known gap beneath its garden gate. Start with a manageable park walk and leave the basin towpath as a separate short outing, taking care around water and following the mapped park exclusions.
Keep the Ironworks or Big Pit visit outdoors with your dog; pets cannot join the museum interiors or underground tour. The upland pond is a separate optional outing.
Choose a short, signed Boating Lake loop or a longer woodland track. Dogs are excluded from play areas, and the reservoir is outside Blaen Bran woodland.
