Brae provides a North Mainland Shetland base with a choice of village hotel or Busta House beside Busta Voe. Start with the community woodland and consider the nearby Burravoe path when conditions suit. The photograph looks across Busta Voe towards Linga from the road to Muckle Roe; it is an area view, not an invitation to walk to the island. A comfortable local outing can be enough after the journey to Shetland.
Lerwick offers a harbour-town base for exploring Shetland with your dog, provided you leave space for weather and travel. The Grand gives you a limited choice of town-centre pet rooms; Fishers Croft is a self-catering alternative in Hamnavoe on Burra, not in Lerwick. Keep the town outings modest: a loch-side walk is a different proposition from an exposed cliff-top path at the Knab.
