Henley-on-Thames makes a gentle riverside break, with Mill and Marsh Meadows as the main outing and Freemans Meadow for a smaller second walk. Both listed stays are in town, but their dog arrangements differ: the Bull asks you to call about a dog room, while the Relais identifies courtyard rooms and welcomes dogs in the Clipper Restaurant.

Oxford works well as a dog-friendly break when you plan around its open spaces rather than assume access to every college. Port Meadow and the canal offer a different rhythm from the crowded central streets. The Head of the River is at Folly Bridge; voco Oxford Thames is outside the centre at Sandford-on-Thames and requires its dedicated pet package.

Woodstock combines a compact historic town with Blenheim’s parkland for a fuller day outdoors. Choose the Bear for a stay in Woodstock itself or the Killingworth Castle for a village-inn base at Wootton. The latter has just two dog rooms and three dog-friendly dining tables, so room and meal arrangements need to be made together.

Choose the town walk for a shorter historic-street outing or Blenheim for a separate parkland visit. Dogs must stay on leads at Blenheim, and the listed Killingworth Castle is in Wootton near Woodstock.
