Plan a visitor-hours visit to the building and grounds. Check admission and events before travelling; dog access is not the same as access to every activity.
Short leads and close control are required. Pet dogs cannot join services, guided tours or mini talks, or enter the indoor Lounge café. The Refectory garden is an option only when open.

Keep your dog close, give cyclists space and use the current route information to choose an access point and turnaround.

Arrive at the reserved dog room, then visit the cathedral if its visitor hours leave comfortable time. Otherwise enjoy the historic streets and leave the cathedral for tomorrow. Use a meal space confirmed with your hotel, as a dog-friendly bedroom does not guarantee restaurant access.
Take a short section of the Crab and Winkle Way, keeping enough time to return to your starting point. If the cathedral is still on your list, make that the main outing instead. There is no need to complete the whole Canterbury-to-Whitstable route in a short break.
