Is Halliman Cottage in central Lossiemouth?
No. Halliman is at Covesea Lighthouse, a separate coastal base. The operator says the cottage courtyard has direct sandy-beach access through a gate; its “fully enclosed” description is about safety for young children and does not confirm a secure dog garden.
Can you reach Lossiemouth East Beach from the Esplanade?
Yes. Moray Council announced that the replacement East Beach footbridge officially opened in 2022, restoring the Esplanade-to-beach connection. Check current council notices for any later temporary closure before travelling.
Visit Forres describes the West Beach as stretching about three miles past Covesea Lighthouse and caves. The access road runs past Moray Golf Club and has parking; choose a shorter out-and-back if your dog does not need the full beach stretch.
Do we need to walk the whole Moray Coast Trail with our dog?
No. The Moray Coast Trail is a linear route: from Forres it skirts the eastern shore of Findhorn Bay, and at Roseisle you can choose forest paths or a long beach section. Plan a single section or arrange transport rather than treating it as a town-centre loop.
