Start with a short shore walk and turn back while your dog still has energy. The operator also describes a full lake circuit, but a brief visit is enough for an arrival afternoon.
Follow current access notices, keep your dog controlled near other visitors and the water, and take drinking water.

Check in at your chosen base and arrange dinner with your dog. If daylight allows, take a short Rudyard shore outing; otherwise keep the first evening local. At Three Horseshoes book the pub area rather than the reserved restaurant.
Use the Roaches only if the weather and your dog’s fitness suit uneven upland paths. Keep the dog on a lead and turn back before tiring. Rudyard is the alternative if you want a shorter, less ambitious walk.
