Take a promenade walk with beach time only where the current signs permit it. From October through April all beaches allow dogs; summer access is limited to designated stretches.
Dogs must be on leads on the promenade. Check the council map and entrance signs from 1 May to 30 September, and avoid rough water.
Use the Rottingdean access for a modest return walk when conditions permit. The complete Marina-to-Saltdean route is just over five kilometres; a short section is a separate choice.
Check closures first. Waves can reach the path and chalk or flint can fall from the cliffs; avoid storms and share the route with cyclists.
Settle into your central Brighton or Rottingdean room, then take a short promenade outing. Check the beach signs rather than following other walkers onto the shingle. Reserve dinner in the hotel’s dog-permitted space and leave time to relax after the journey.

If the route is open and weather is calm, try a short out-and-back from Rottingdean. From the Grand this means a separate journey east. If conditions are unsuitable, stay with a town or promenade outing instead of walking beneath unstable cliffs.
